The State of Alabama, Etowah County, and Rainbow City offer great opportunities for new businesses. All offer some incentives to help defray some of the costs experienced in moving to the area. A well trained and stable workforce is one of the elements that make the area attractive to business owners. Etowah County is dedicated to providing education and training across all areas to provide businesses productive employees with the basic knowledge necessary in the desired field. The career and technical education programs available in all of the high schools and technical centers offer a wide range of opportunity for students in fields which include business management, automotive technology, electronics and robotics, health science, precision machining, welding, building construction, industrial maintenance and engineering design technology. The training at the secondary level is advanced further with additional programs at the community college level. Gadsden State Community College is home to one of the 15 centers that make up the Alabama Technology Network, which links the two year community colleges with the University of Alabama Systems and Auburn University, to provide resources to help manufacturers make their business better. The Alabama Industrial Training Institute offers pre-hire training programs structured to the specific needs of the individual business. There are local centers of Jacksonville State University, the University of Alabama and Huntingdon College that provide opportunities to earn Bachelor’s and graduate degrees.
